Privacy Policy

1. Who runs this site

FindARent.ai is operated by a solo independent developer, not a company. This policy explains what little data the site touches and what happens to it. Contact: support@findarent.ai.

2. What we collect

Account details: if you create an account, we store your name, email, chosen role, and a salted cryptographic hash of your password (never the password itself) in our database, plus a signed session cookie in your browser.

Listings you publish: landlord listings — including any photos you upload — are stored in our database and file storage and shown publicly on the site.

Tour requests: when you request a tour we store the name, email, and date you submit and share them with that listing's owner so they can respond. We may email both parties about the request.

Favorites and recently viewed: saved homes and recently-viewed listings are stored in your browser's localStorage, on your device only. They never leave your browser.

Hosting logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically processes technical data such as IP addresses and request logs to serve and secure the site, per their own privacy policy. Transactional email, when enabled, is delivered via Resend.

3. What we do NOT do

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising or ad trackers. We do not use third-party analytics cookies. We do not send marketing email. We do not share your information with data brokers.

4. Cookies we use

far_session — a signed, httpOnly cookie that keeps you logged in (expires after 30 days or when you sign out).

far_profile — your display name and role, so the site can greet you (same lifetime).

That's the full list. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.

5. Data retention and deletion

Favorites and recently-viewed data live only on your device — clear the site's browser data to erase them. Signing out removes your session cookies.

You can permanently delete your account — including your listings and messages — at any time from your account page on the site or the Profile tab in the app. Tour requests you sent to landlords are removed with your account.

6. Security

Passwords are stored only as salted scrypt hashes, session cookies are cryptographically signed so they cannot be forged, and the site is served over HTTPS. That said, no internet service is perfectly secure — please use a unique password here as you would anywhere.

7. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in Europe, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Since your data currently lives on your own device, you can exercise these directly as described in section 5 — and you can always email support@findarent.ai with questions or requests.

9. Changes to this policy

If the site's data practices change — for example, if a real database or analytics are added — this page will be updated and the date at the top revised before those changes take effect.
